Taking a closer look at later life.
At Spry Finance, our mission is simple: to make life better for the over 60s in Ireland. So we’ve taken a closer look at what living is like for this generation today, the benefits and challenges, and the trials and the triumphs. We’ve compiled this research into a complete report, which sheds light on the evolving landscape of later life, and ideas for what you’ll need to best enjoy it.
You won’t be surprised to hear that, like most of Europe, Ireland has an ageing population. But did you know that the number of people over 65 increases by 20,000 every year? While a substantial portion of these people enjoy financial security above the norm, a growing number are falling into the asset rich, cash poor bracket. This is especially true of older people who enjoy a single lifestyle.
Interestingly, we discovered that, on average, people only attain outright ownership of their homes by the age of 59. Yet there is still a sizable proportion in the 60s bracket who are still managing mortgages or renting.
The population may be ageing, but life never gets old. So take a look at our research for yourself and get some insight into how best to navigate the challenges ahead, to help make later life even greater.
