Spry Finance to sponsor new consumer financial podcast for older people

Later life lender Spry Finance is joining forces with Senior Times to sponsor a new podcast that will promote greater awareness and understanding of financial issues for older people.

Your Money, Your Choice will be presented by award-winning consumer journalist Bill Tyson. The eight-episode podcast series will look at various aspects of personal finance and how they impact those those aged over-60.

Senior Times Podcast

Bill will help put listeners in control of their finances by providing tips on how to shop around for the best deals on things like health insurance, and energy providers. He will enlist the help of expert guests to offer advice in areas such as investments, pensions, inheritance planning. The podcast will also look at news and issues as they arise and how they impact older people – starting with the upcoming budget.

Recent research found that more than six in 10 Irish adults fear their pension will not be sufficient to maintain their current lifestyle once their retire, while only half believe they will be in a financial position to live comfortably after they stop working. The research into Attitudes Towards Ageing *– commissioned by Spry from Opinions – found that only 21% believe their pension will be enough to sustain their current lifestyle, as opposed to 61% who do not. And while 52% of respondents are confident they will be able to live comfortably for 20-30 years beyond retirement age, just 14% are ‘very confident’.

Your Money, Your Choice will be available on all major podcast platform, and will also stream on the Senior Times website, which has more than 33,000 active user per month. The first episode is available now, with a new podcast released every second week.
